On 16 October 2009, Maureen Devlin died peacefully at home aged 52 years. The courage that Maureen displayed throughout the period of her illness was an inspiration to many. It was Maureen's wish that funds donated in her memory may provide hope to others in the future. Maureen is much loved and will always be remembered by her friends and family.

Happy Birthday dear dear friend. Still loved and still missed greatly.
Just wanted to send my present a little early. You are still part of our lives and I miss you xx
Will be thinking Maureen on Sunday, her birthdate, with fond memories as always. xx
I didn't know! I was stunned when I found out just a couple of weeks ago. You were one of the beautiful people Maureen, and the world is a lesser place without you. I checked back in my diaries when we were last together; it was Tuesday 11th January 2005 with Joy at Francs in Goose Green. Where did the time go? I didn't return home from Australia during those years. So sad to have missed you.
I know your light will still be shining somewhere, although you are sadly missed.
Love Jenny.
Sorry Maureen, no more jam at the moment - must check that blessed sugar thermometer, I'm sure it showed the right setting temp when I looked. Better luck next time I guess. I hope it was ok for Steve, he said blackcurrant is his favourite. Christmas came and went again without you around. Thank God you are always in our hearts and memories. Don't really know what else to say just now... Sharan x
Your memory will never fade xx
Many thanks to each and every person, who, at any time over the past couple of years, has made a donation to Maureen's fund. To date, the Christie has received £18,000+ (including Gift Aid tax relief) from the fund and all of that money is being used by the Christie to help pay for clinical trials and research into the early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer. So your money could not have been better spent! Thank you once again. Merry Christmas! Steve
Fantastic result re the fund Steve - our Maureen will be so proud! MIss you so much still Maureen especially at this time of year (but you\'ve left us a great bro-in-law). Happy Christmas and thanks to all who donate/visit this site in memory of a great sis. Little sis Kris xxx

Have only recently started reading 'Boxing Clever' but am enjoying it already. Thank you Stephen.
Hi Maureen
Another birthday, another milestone - seems so strange not to share it with you - stuff goes on and stuff happens doesn't it. I just wish stuff could be better sometimes.
Two years gone in a blink of an eye.

We sit in a circle when we read. Usually, with time, circles close up or someone new comes in to fill the space. Not in this case. Miss you x
Maureen,Stillgreatly missed by all of us .
You continue to inspire us.
It's so funny how I think about you so often. You've touched my heart.

We all miss your presence and I will make sure both Brodie & Phoebe-Rose know how much you mean't to us all! Love us all!!
The book is a true tribute to the most wonderful of people. I think the photo and description of the author, coupled with hearing you say the words through the book make this a delight to read! Miss you but you will always be with us! I know you are looking over Brodie & Phoebe-Rose!!xx
I knew Maureen from her writers' group and heard this book develop and grow over the years, and I feel honoured to have been involved in a small part in its progression. Reading the finished novel now, I can hear her voice in every word. Lovely.
I miss you and that won't go away but with this book its a part of you that will stay. Thinking of you x phil x
Well done to everyone who made the publication of Maureen's book happen - a lovely tribute to her.
Finding a copy of Maureen\'s book on door mat when i arrived home brought a tear to my eye but also a warm glow in my heart for having the pleasure to know Maureen.
xxx
Having met and got to know Maureen with her writer's hat on, it's very moving to finally have a copy of her first published novel in front of me. Well done Maureen, and well done Steve for giving it the final push. I hope it helps the tribute fund meet its target.
Hi Maureen
It's here and it's now and I'm thinking of you and you're not here. I think of you so often. S x

So sad that my attempts to trace Maureen to catch up after several years took me to this site. I remember Maureen with great fondness (working with her at both NPCRDC, Manchester, and HSMC, Birmingham 1996 - 2002). I'll buy a leaf in her memory.
Missed your birthday song to me and now the start of another year without you. I'm sure you know, but we do have some family events to look forward to and sure you will be with us in spiritxx
time makes things easier but will never fill the gap that you have left xx
Our sentiments the same as Stephanie's and it was lovely for the family to be together (either in Manchester - or in spirit) at the weekend - I'm sure Maureen was watching and smiling. (Although, not sure she smiled at Uncle Pat's jokes!) Donation of £24 for 24 months.XXX
I cant believe is a year since youve been gone. We miss you so much - Callum and I are going to wirte you some messages on some stones and throw them as far as we can into the sea, I hope you get them.xxxxx
I am doing a parachute jump on the 16th oct to raise money for the willows foundation. I know i will be fine as Maureen will be there to catch me as a fall. xxx
Well Maureen, we did the walk, it was fun and you'd have enjoyed it I think. Steve came along anyway and Dave was just dragged with us. Secretly I think he wanted to turn back - oh dear! We all had a lovely, moving and inspirarional walk. Thanks Maureen.
With love always
Sharan
As long as hearts remember,
As long as hearts still care,
We do not part with those we love,
They're with us everywhere.
So many words left unsaid, so many thoughts left unshared, so many 'what ifs' just hanging in the air...
Thinking of you always, of the good you have done and the good you continue to do.
Maureen......you're always in our thoughts, as we all wish Steve a really happy birthday for the 21st May. All our love xxxxxxxxx

Hi Maureen.
Just sending your A-M a birthday gift, she wants it to go to the fund, but then you knew that didn't you. Always in our hearts so with us always. S x
Maureen,
Words cannot express how much we all miss you and how much we will never forget you! I know I shouldn't be regretful for not making the funeral to say my good byes when your nephew was being born. I know you would have loved to have seen Brodie in person but I know you will be watching over him anyway! We have made this donation as our christmas present to all the family but we will be doing the same over and over! Brodie will be told all about you!
Hopefully you are at peace!
Simon & Gemma & Brodie
Can't believe we have had Christmas and now starting a New Year without you. The pain of missing you is awful but we know you are safe with God and this fund is hope - we WILL get to the £10k for you Maureen!
I was so sad to hear of Maureen's death. She was a good friend to me, and an inspiration.
It is with such sadness I heard the news about Maureen passing away. We worked together a few years ago and she was a very lovely, special person who I will always remember fondly. Sending my love and best wishes to her family and friends, Lisa xx
Maureen was a good, kind, gentle and considerate person. I feel so privileged to have known her. I had enormous respect for her (and there are only a few people I have met that I can say that about!). I will always remember her beautiful smile and her dimples. I will remember her with fondness always.
Rest in peace Maureen, it was a pleasure to have known you.
I will miss Maureen enormously. She has been a colleague and a friend for many years, first at Glaxo, then GalbraithWight.
Above all, she was a person of great integrity, and she did whatever she did to the best of her ability. She always had a quirky viewpoint and found the humour in any situation. And she definitely did not take herself too seriously.
I shall miss her almond eyes and twinkle - and the impeccable nails to which I can only aspire.
I am sending a cheque for £100 directly to the fund at Christie, as my Charities Aid Foundation chequebook does not seem to connect with the payment mechanism here.
Thinking of all who loved her, and wishing them comfort in their loss.
Happy memories.
Love Alison xx
Two weeks on, I find it difficult to comprehend your passing.
It was a pleasure to be your neighbour, your red wine buddy and the recipient of your good advice. But most of all it was an absolute pleasure to be your friend.
Thanks for all the smiles you put on my face.
Lots of love,
Deano xx
Maureen- a lovely person, so cheery and positive and a wonderful person - I count myself lucky to have known you and had you as my friend. You will be sadly missed.
Maureen was a consummate professional to work with and her sharp wit and vibrant personality made it feel like a special treat.
Maureen, you were a very dear friend to us both and you will be much missed. You gave us such encouragment in our business venture and always had the time to talk through issues and help us get good focus and direction. As a work colleague - we loved working with you - it was always a pleasure. As a friend you were fun, loyal, and full of affection and kind words. You were an inspiration. If anyone deserves to float through the gates of heaven you do, and we will always know you are there smiling and looking kindly on us all.
With love always Maria and Richard

You've been a true friend, Maureen: someone I could trust, confide in, have a laugh with or just enjoy spending time with. It's hard to believe you're not here any more. You'll never be forgotten.

Maureen, you are truly one of the greatest blessings in my life. Without your gift of friendship I would not have the life I have with Sarah and our children. You will live on in that gift. Thank you dear Maureen,
