I didn't know! I was stunned when I found out just a couple of weeks ago. You were one of the beautiful people Maureen, and the world is a lesser place without you. I checked back in my diaries when we were last together; it was Tuesday 11th January 2005 with Joy at Francs in Goose Green. Where did the time go? I didn't return home from Australia during those years. So sad to have missed you.
I know your light will still be shining somewhere, although you are sadly missed.

Sorry Maureen, no more jam at the moment - must check that blessed sugar thermometer, I'm sure it showed the right setting temp when I looked. Better luck next time I guess. I hope it was ok for Steve, he said blackcurrant is his favourite. Christmas came and went again without you around. Thank God you are always in our hearts and memories. Many thanks to each and every person, who, at any time over the past couple of years, has made a donation to Maureen's fund. To date, the Christie has received £18,000+ (including Gift Aid tax relief) from the fund and all of that money is being used by the Christie to help pay for clinical trials and research into the early diagnosis and treatment of ovarian cancer. I knew Maureen from her writers' group and heard this book develop and grow over the years, and I feel honoured to have been involved in a small part in its progression. Reading the finished novel now, I can hear her voice in every word. Lovely.

Having met and got to know Maureen with her writer's hat on, it's very moving to finally have a copy of her first published novel in front of me. Well done Maureen, and well done Steve for giving it the final push. I hope it helps the tribute fund meet its target.

So sad that my attempts to trace Maureen to catch up after several years took me to this site. I remember Maureen with great fondness (working with her at both NPCRDC, Manchester, and HSMC, Birmingham 1996 - 2002). I'll buy a leaf in her memory.

Our sentiments the same as Stephanie's and it was lovely for the family to be together (either in Manchester - or in spirit) at the weekend - I'm sure Maureen was watching and smiling. (Although, not sure she smiled at Uncle Pat's jokes!) Donation of £24 for 24 months.XXX

I am doing a parachute jump on the 16th oct to raise money for the willows foundation. I know i will be fine as Maureen will be there to catch me as a fall. xxx

Well Maureen, we did the walk, it was fun and you'd have enjoyed it I think. Steve came along anyway and Dave was just dragged with us. Secretly I think he wanted to turn back - oh dear! We all had a lovely, moving and inspirarional walk. Thanks Maureen.

Words cannot express how much we all miss you and how much we will never forget you! I know I shouldn't be regretful for not making the funeral to say my good byes when your nephew was being born. I know you would have loved to have seen Brodie in person but I know you will be watching over him anyway! We have made this donation as our christmas present to all the family but we will be doing the same over and over! Brodie will be told all about you!

I was so sad to hear of Maureen's death. She was a good friend to me, and an inspiration.

It is with such sadness I heard the news about Maureen passing away. We worked together a few years ago and she was a very lovely, special person who I will always remember fondly. Sending my love and best wishes to her family and friends, Lisa xx

Maureen was a good, kind, gentle and considerate person. I feel so privileged to have known her. I had enormous respect for her (and there are only a few people I have met that I can say that about!). I will always remember her beautiful smile and her dimples. I will remember her with fondness always.

Rest in peace Maureen, it was a pleasure to have known you.

I will miss Maureen enormously. She has been a colleague and a friend for many years, first at Glaxo, then GalbraithWight.
Above all, she was a person of great integrity, and she did whatever she did to the best of her ability. She always had a quirky viewpoint and found the humour in any situation. And she definitely did not take herself too seriously.
I shall miss her almond eyes and twinkle - and the impeccable nails to which I can only aspire.
I am sending a cheque for £100 directly to the fund at Christie, as my Charities Aid Foundation chequebook does not seem to connect with the payment mechanism here.
Thinking of all who loved her, and wishing them comfort in their loss.

It was a pleasure to be your neighbour, your red wine buddy and the recipient of your good advice. But most of all it was an absolute pleasure to be your friend.
