Answers
A tribute fund is a lasting way to remember someone you hold dear. It's a positive way of dealing with the loss of a loved one and it gives friends, relatives & colleagues a focus point for their own individual contribution to the fund. Above all it means we are able to keep funding new research and continually improve our patient care.
Every pound raised for the Hope Tribute Fund comes directly to Christie's.
The fund will be named ‘The Joe Bloggs Hope Tribute Fund' and you can donate to it whenever you like and which ever way suits you best i.e.:
- Single donations
- Sponsored sporting events
- Monthly gifts by direct debit
- Organising dinner & dance etc
It is very easy to create a page that is personal to your loved one.
You will need a valid email address and you will also need to login or register to our site, if you have not already done so. Registering should only take a couple of minutes - though you will need access to your email to activate your account.
Once you are logged in, you will just need to enter the name of the person you are honouring and write something about them and add a photograph, if you would like. You will then have the option of adding the fund to the Garden of Hope - this can be accessed by anyone who visits our site.
There is then an option for setting a target or goal for your fund to reach i.e. you may want to raise £15,000.00 which would be enough to buy 3 new electronically operated patient beds and also, as a thank you, have your loved ones name engraved on our Tree of Hope.
Once you have created your page, you will be able to write diary entries and create a timeline of milestones & important events such as the birth of a child or graduating from university. There is also a photo gallery where you are able to upload photographs.
You will also be able to make donations into your loved one's fund by buying a leaf for their own Tree of Hope.
What can I do once my page is set up and friends and family have been notified?
As the person who has set up the Fund, you will be able to do the following things when logged in:
- Compose, edit and/or delete diary entries
- Upload your favourite photographs
- Make entries yourself and remove any inappropriate visitor book entries.
How will I know how much the fund holds?
As well as being able to check online whenever you like we will send you a quarterly newsletter with all the latest news and developments at the hospital and how your fund is progressing.
Where will the funds raised go?
Our Cancer Appeal Fund is the main fund most of our donations go into. Monies paid into this fund are put towards the main projects undertaken at the hospital with a focus on research and patient care.
You can, however, chose for the money your fund raises to go to a specific fund e.g. The Young Oncology Unit (YOU) or specific ward or doctor - this can be discussed with the Tribute Funds Officer once the fund has been opened.
